Organic bed linen and table dressings with the Max Havelaar fair trade label
| Schwob is the first Swiss textiles company to produce bed linen and table dressings from organic cotton that carry the fair trade label. Fair trade means that smallholders in India get a stable price for their cotton. What is more, the fair trade premium can be put towards local projects to build schools, ensure a supply of clean drinking water or take other action to improve the quality of people's lives. The processing chain for the cotton is transparent and corresponds to recognized social standards. The cotton comes from an Indian cooperative, the Chetna Organic Farmers' Association, which produces top quality fabric from fair-trade sources. Thus a yarn is produced that satisfies both social and ecological criteria and that Schwob can use as a base for its new sustainable product range. |
