From Gotthelf to global market

Schwob was founded in 1872 under the name «Schwob Frères». Thanks to its exceptional adaptability and the courage to effect structural changes the company has always been able to maintain its market position.

After the Second World War the company's market strategy was consistently orientated towards the world's leading hotel and catering industries. In 1980 the company took over the linen mill Schmid & Cie., and relocated its entire manufacturing facilities at Burgdorf.

On 1 January 2008, Schwob merged with three other linen service providers: Schärer AG in Olten, Eclipse AG in Arlesheim and TexAG in Niederuzwil. This makes us the first partner in Switzerland that can cover the entire value chain for textile care and manufacture for the hotel and restaurant industry.
